Ella G. Fortune passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Williamsburg, VA. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ella's warmth and spirit touched the lives of many.

A graduate of Lane High School in Charlottesville, VA, Ella was a retail manager and later, a dedicated homemaker. Her career was marked by her commitment to serving others and supporting her family with love and care. Ella was very strong in her faith, attending Belmont Baptist Church, where she shared her love for Jesus.

Ella found great joy in spending time with her daughter, Brooke, and her cherished grandchildren, Izzy, Cassie, and Hunter. She delighted in moments of laughter shared with friends and family, and her laughter will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. An avid shopper, she enjoyed the simple pleasure of finding the perfect item for herself and her loved ones.

Preceded in death by her brother, Moses, and her parents, Mattie and Robert Gentry, Ella is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel M. Fortune; her loving daughter, Brooke, and son-in-law, William; her sisters, Pat, Bobbie, and Helen; and her treasured grandchildren, Izzy, Cassie, and Hunter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced, at Belmont Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ella's name to World Vision, the Billy Graham Association, or St. Jude’s.

Ella's kindness, laughter, and unyielding love for her family will always be remembered and cherished. Her legacy of compassion and joy continues to inspire those blessed to have known her.
