Ella Mae Lang

Ella Mae Lang passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, March 7, 2025, surrounded by family
and friends. She was born on April 2, 1931, the beloved middle daughter of sharecroppers Alver
and Estella Jackson.
Ella was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Jewel Lee Hysaw of Dallas, Texas. She is lovingly
remembered by her oldest sister, Gussie Lee Mitchell of Marlin, Texas, as well as her children:
Alonzo Lang, Billy Lang, Shelia Lang, and Tonette Lang-Brown.
A woman of strength and determination, Ella lived a full life, serving her community in countless
ways. She was employed by the Anchorage School District for over 30 years, where she made a
lasting impact on students and colleagues alike. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to own and
manage apartments for over 40 years, providing homes and support to many. Known as a loving
grandmother not only to her family but to the entire community, she touched the lives of those
around her with kindness and wisdom.
Faith was the cornerstone of Ella's life. She was a devoted member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist
Church, where she sang in the choir for many years, praising God with the same love and joy she
shared with those around her.
Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held April 5, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church. Viewing begins at 11am with a
Celebration of life to follow at 12pm.
