Ella Chapmon Moody, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026.
Ella was born on April 8, 1936, in
Reidsville, North Carolina, to James and Mary Chapmon. She was raised in Reidsville and graduated from Ruffin High School.
On October 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Lambert B. "L.B." Moody of Wilmore, Kentucky. They shared 38 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 1993. Following her husband's retirement from the United States Air Force, Ella built a remarkable career of her own, becoming the first female pharmaceutical representative in South Texas in the 1970s - a role that reflected her strength, independence, and trailblazing spirit. She later retired from McKesson in 2007.
Ella was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed golfing and outdoor activities, watching sports on television, keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, and especially spending holidays surrounded by those she loved.
She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family - including all the cherished pets through the years. Ella had a special love for collecting angels and cardinals, symbols she believed watched over and protected her loved ones.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert B. "L.B." Moody; her parents, James and Mary Chapmon; her brothers James, Cal, Thomas, William, and Maloy Chapmon; and her sister, Mildred.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie (Kurt) Busch, her son Steve Moody (Kevin Falk); her granddaughter, Kristi (Jeff) Bauer; her sister, Dorothy Fagan; her brother, Henry Chapmon (Linda); and numerous friends.
A private celebration of life will be held with the family at a later date.
And now, each time a bright red cardinal appears, perched quietly nearby, her family will be reminded that love never leaves - it simply finds new wings.
