Ella Marie Linton Skinner, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 21, 2025, in
Bath, North Carolina. Born on December 3, 1943, in Pungo, North Carolina, she lived a full and vibrant life of 82 years.
Marie dedicated her early years to being a devoted homemaker, raising her children and creating a warm and loving home. Once her children were grown, she began her career at the Historical Museum in Belhaven, North Carolina. She later served as an Administrative Secretary at Beaufort County Hospital in
Washington, North Carolina, where she was admired for her dedication and kindness.
Her passions included gardening, where she lovingly tended to her flowerbeds, and baking, especially her renowned carrot and coconut cakes. Marie was also an avid crafter, enjoying quilting and ceramics. She had a love for travel, having visited Germany, Italy, Austria, Paris, and London, with a particularly memorable trip to Alaska that she cherished.
Marie was a devoted member of the Hunters Bridge Church of Christ Ladies Aide, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment. She had a special fondness for decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, often adorning her home with six beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosalin Slade Linton and Luther Linton; her husband, Bobby S. Skinner Sr.; and her brothers, James Linton and Benjamin T. Linton. Ella is survived by her loving children: Debra Chivell, Denise Wright, and Bobby S. Skinner Jr.. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A service to honor Marie's life will be held at Hunters Bridge Church of Christ in Pinetown, North Carolina, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Committal will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in
Washington, North Carolina.
