Marcheta Jean Skinner

Marcheta Jean Graves Skinner, age 97, passed away peacefully in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was born in Butler County on April 10th, 1928 to the late Norma Johnson and Raymond Graves. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Royce (Sarah) Graves; the father of her two sons, Joseph William VanMeter; and her husbands, Bailey Free and Bill Skinner.

Marcheta was a faithful and devoted Christian woman. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also proudly active in ABWA.

Marcheta is survived by her sons, Phillip Patrick VanMeter (Lana) and Mark Steven VanMeter (Pam); four grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23rd, at the J. C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Inc.
