Ella Myrle Hauerbach Whear passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her home in Sandy, Utah, just two weeks shy of her 96th birthday.

Born on August 24, 1929 in Reno, Nevada, to Jessie Julius and Della St. Clair Hauerbach. After her father unexpectedly passed away when she was 7, she lived with her mother and younger sister, Janice, in Tooele, Utah.

Ella married Jarold Latham Whear on October 22, 1949. They lived in Tooele, where their children, Susan and John, were born, before moving to Logan, Utah in 1965. In 1977 they made their home in Salt Lake City and later, Sandy.

Ella enjoyed her many years spent working retail at various department stores, including Keith O'Briens, ZCMI, and Shopko. She had many special friends and acquaintances she met through Friends Club, with whom she played bridge for many years. She never met a stranger and was truly friendly to all.

Above all, Ella was an adored grandmother and great-grandmother. She lovingly spent much of time tending her great-grand babies in her home, which kept her young & active. Her grandchildren & great-grandchildren treasure countless memories of her love, kindness, and support.

Ella is survived by her daughter, Susan Whear Adams; son, John (Vivian) Whear, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerald and sister, Janice.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray, Utah. Viewing will be from 10am-11am, followed by funeral 11. Interment will take place in the Tooele City Cemetery.
