Ellen June "E.B" (Stannard) Boyne, 91, of West Hartford, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Avery Heights.
Ellen grew up in West Haven, she married Matthew Boyne, Sr., "the boy next door" and together they raised their family in West Hartford.
Ellen enjoyed her friends, playing cards, bowling (lawn and alley), golfing, traveling, looking good and most of all family.
Ellen was blessed with two loves; her husband Matt and years after his passing, Gene. If they knew each other they would agree that she was special.
Ellen spent many years working as a nurse and administrative assistant at American School for the Deaf (ASD). This was a huge part of her life. Ellen retired from ASD with many friends.
A loving sister and mother, Ellen will be missed by her beloved sisters; Dottie and Patty Stannard; her children: her daughter Maureen Nardozza and her husband Jeffrey, grandsons Jason (Sarah), Michael (Rachel) and Matthew; her son Matthew Boyne, Jr. and his wife Carol, grandsons Nicholas (Jamie) and James (Kathryn); her great-grandchildren, Dean Boyne, Caroline Boyne and Thor Nardozza; and two like-daughters, Carol Alberti (Bill) and Linda Knorr. Ellen is predeceased by her husband, Matthew Boyne, Sr.; her son, Stephen W. Boyne; and her life-partner, Eugene Knorr.
Special thanks to Avery Heights. They allowed Gene and Ellen's plan to grow old gracefully and with dignity: transitioning from independent living to assisted living, then to nursing care, all without having to move.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (July 13), 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
Memorial donations may be made to Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club, PO Box 270422, West Hartford, CT 06127; American School for the Deaf, Office of Institutional Advancement, 139 North Main St, West Hartford, CT 06107; or Habitat for Humanity-North Central CT, PO Box 1933, Hartford, CT 06114. I loved to visit the home on Chase Lane in West Haven, where Ellen lived with her sisters Patty and Dottie, her father Loren, her grandmother and her Aunt Mary. The girls were so nice to me and my brother Mike. I especially loved it when they sang...
