Obituary
SALEM – Ms. Ellen Louise Crowdis, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10th, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (O'Donnell) Crowdis and Salem Police Officer, George R. Crowdis.
Ellen received her education at Ste. Chretienne Academy, St. Mary's Grammar School, and graduated from Salem High School, class of 1954. After graduation Ellen worked for the New England Telephone Company and for many years at Sylvania on Boston Street in Salem.
Ellen's faith was very important to her. She was a communicant of Ste. Anne's Parish in Salem. She relished the time spent at family gatherings. Ellen was an avid reader, loved to walk, go to the movies, and have lunch at Dube's Restaurant. She also attended the Salem Council of Aging.
Ellen is survived by her sisters; Margaret Crowdis of Salem, and Elizabeth Hosman and her husband, Thomas of Peabody, her nephew, George McGrath and his wife, Arlene along with their children, Michael, Kevin, and Maurgan, nephew, Paul McGrath and his wife, Laura along with their children, Kinnon, Victoria, and Adeline, nephew Timothy McGrath, niece Susan McGrath, nephew, John Hosman and his wife, Tricia along with their children, Matthew, Sara, and Patrick, niece, Jill Nelson and her husband, Michael along with their children, Ashley, Kaila, Samantha, and Katie. Ellen is preceded in death by her sister, Maureen McGrath and her husband, Edward, and niece, Lisa Ann Hosman.
ARRAGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ellen's Funeral Mass which will be held at Ste. Anne Parish, 292 Jefferson Ave, Salem, on Friday, July 14th at 12 P.M. (Noon) Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Friday, July 14th from 9 to 11 A.M. prior to the funeral.
