Ellen Cook Jackson, aged 80, of Bogart, Georgia, passed away on August 20, 2025. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was the cherished daughter of the late James Daniel Cook, Sr. and Era Payne Cook. Ellen is lovingly remembered by her family, including her daughter, Paige Jackson, and her great-grandchild, Charlee Grace Cox. She is also survived by her sister, Diane C. Edwards, along with several nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Weldon Jackson; her daughter, Tina J. Burgess; her grandchildren, Charles “Chad” Everett Burgess and Ryan Thomas Burgess; and her siblings, James Daniel “Danny” Cook, Jr. and Jerry Lewis Cook.
An avid outdoorswoman, she enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the time spent in nature. Ellen also had a passion for crocheting and made many memories with her family and friends over the years. Her career as a secretary in the trucking industry at Carolina Freight (later known as ABF Freight) spanned over 30 years. Ellen was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Athens Moose Lodge.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, GA on Saturday, August 23, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park.
