Ellen Ann Long King, 83, of Toccoa, GA, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025.
Born in Little Rock, AR on July 28, 1942, Ellen was the daughter of the late Marge and L.H. "Blondie" Long of Perry, FL. She attended Berea High School in Greenville, SC where she met the love of her life, Billy Wayne King, and married in November of 1959. Wayne adored his "Blue-eyed Ellen Ann" and wrote a song solidifying the nickname lovingly used within the family. She was a dedicated homemaker for most of her life with several years as a timekeeper for Watkins E&C once her children were grown.
Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with them. She was preceded in death by Wayne, her husband of 62 years who passed in 2021.
She is survived by her four children, Troy King of Chattanooga, TN, Vince (Tracy) King of Leesburg, GA, Shawn (Darci) King of Americus, GA, Michelle (Brian) Sellers of Toccoa, GA; her eleven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris), Shawn M (Mary Evelyn), Michael, Matthew, Kaitlyn (Matt), Seth (Caroline), Hannah (Danny), Chance, Lane (Haley), Kayley and Molly; ten great grandchildren, Ian, Ben, Evie Grace, Rebecca, Nolan, Ryan, Brooks, Charly, Navy, Anne Collins. She also loved gardening and always had the most beautiful flowers with Gerber daisies being one of her favorites. In her younger years, she enjoyed her Tallahassee bowling league and threw a mean 16-lb ball with great pride and skill.
Her family feels very blessed to have enjoyed a long weekend staying together in Dahlonega, GA to celebrate her 83rd birthday – an amazing gift from God just two weeks before her passing.
A celebration of life will be held on September 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Eastside Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia with lunch provided for family and friends by the church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 100 Vienna Rd, Americus, GA 31709.
