Geraldine "Gerry" Pickelsimer Batson died December 22, 2025. She was born in Leaksville, North Carolina to the late Madeline and Otus Pickelsimer on September 2, 1939, and moved to
Greenville, SC as a young child. Gerry graduated as Valedictorian of Berea High School in 1957, and then attended the Greenville Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Nurses' Degree. She was married for 61 years to the late Rhodan Dayton Batson.
She then worked for the late Dr. Joseph Bryson for several years before working for Internal Medicine Associates, then later Carolina Cardiology where she worked until she was 81. Gerry loved and was loved by all the physicians and her co-workers. She served several times as president of the Greenville Lions Club, as well as being a member of the Advisory Board of Interim Health Care. Gerry also served as District Deputy Grand Matron of Eastern Star, District 23, and her hobbies included traveling and spending time with her family. Gerry enjoyed activities at her church, First Baptist Church of Greenville, where she was a member for over 63 years being a member of the Seminar Corder Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynne B. Holcombe and Rebecca "Becky" Batson Bridwell; five granddaughters, Brittany Hildreth (Evan), Savannah Ozment (David), Sara-Grace Garcia (Evan), Caroline Bridwell, and Anna B. Bridwell; two great-grandchildren, David K. Ozment and Lucas Ozment; one sister, Jean P. Davis, and two brothers, Charles Pickelsimer (Elaine), and Keith Pickelsimer (Tammy).
She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Black; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Guy Holcombe.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel, with a visitation to follow until 12:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest.
