Ellen L. Schaefer-Allen, age 91, of Flushing, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Visitation will be held at 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 11110 Saginaw Street in Mt. Morris, Michigan 48458. Ellen will be laid to rest at Montrose Cemetery. Those wishing to write condolences may do so by visiting her obituary page found at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.

Ellen was born on November 14, 1934, in Midland, Michigan to the late Matthew & Elizabeth (Peppler) Dyer. She graduated from St. Mary's in Mt. Morris, class of 1953. She furthered her education at Mott Community College. Ellen married her first husband Robert L. Schaefer on July 11, 1953, and together they were blessed with their 5 children, Mike, Dawn, Pat, Jimmy, and Holly. Robert preceded Ellen in death on August 24, 1981. Ellen found love again when she met Andrew J. Allen, they were married on October 23, 1984, and he too preceded Ellen in death on June 10, 2005.

Ellen worked at Jensen Greenhouse close to 10 years, she enjoyed sunshine and outdoors, so this was something she liked very much. She proudly bowled in women's leagues for 55 years, mostly at Colonial Lanes going to Nationals for 25 years in a row and States for 38 years. Ellen will forever be remembered for having a creative mind and always crafting. She sewn many outfits, baptism gowns, and costumes for her children and her grandkids. Ellen adored her grandchildren; she spent as much time as possible with them. Whether it was baking, canning pickles, crafting, playing games or even cleaning the fishpond, time spent with Ellen was always an adventure. Above all, even though her family was blessed to have her so many years, it only makes saying goodbye all the more difficult. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as Ellen is going to be missed so much.

Ellen is survived by her 5 children, Mike (Ruth) Schaefer, Dawn (Denny) Allen, Pat (Jen) Schaefer, Jimmy (Joanie) Schaefer and Holly (Chris) Schneider; 14 cherished grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Darlene (Dick) Coulter and Kathleen Quinn. Ellen is further survived by many nieces, nephews and so many other dear family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Schaefer; 2nd husband, Andrew J. Allen; her infant great-grandson, Colton and sisters, Jane Hilton, Ann O'Brien and Nadine Bryan.
