Publish in a newspaper

Ellen Elaine Thompson, 88, of Robbins, NC passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025 at Sandy Ridge Memory Care Center, Candor, NC.

Elaine was born on September 13, 1937 at home in Eagle Springs, NC to the late Adrian Calvin Moore and Mary Jane Parsons Moore.

Elaine graduated from West End High School in 1955 and attended Pfeiffer College. She worked at Samarkand Manor for a time. She met her future husband and the love of her life at Myrtle Beach, SC while visiting her sister and they were married on July 2, 1960.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Mary Moore and her husband of 63 years, Johnnie Kimber Thompson.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald, Craig, Randal (Audrey), & Carl (Candace); grandchildren, Alex (Jesi), Shannon (Matthew Small), Avery, & Ella Grace. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Phillip Parsons) and Ethel Freeman.

She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker; a devoted wife and mother. She served the Lord faithfully as she was an active member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Robbins. She loved to spend time outside working in her flowers or vegetable gardens and helping Pop with the cows. One of the greatest joys of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours with them, playing outside, going to parks, or just having " craft days " at home. She always had an adventure planned to entertain them. She wrote down cute things they said to send home to moms and dads and laughed over and over again as she retold the stories of what happened each day. Her grandchildren loved her dearly because she made time for them and truly enjoyed being with them.

Elaine's family called her "Nanny " and we will all miss her so very much. We are so thankful that God placed us in her family and look forward to the day we will be with her again.

Funeral Service will be 2 pm Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist, with Reverend David Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, October 10, 2025 at Kennedy Funeral Home.
