Ellis Walton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruebel Funeral Home on Oct. 5, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Ellis Bullion Walton passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 from complications of Myasthenia Gravis. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on All Saints Day, November 1, 1942, to Bruce Thomas Bullion and Mary Fletcher Ford Bullion.

Ellis attended public schools in Little Rock until their closure in 1958, then graduated from Maumee Valley Country Day School in Toledo, Ohio. She went on to earn her degree from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, in 1964, and later earned a Master's Degree in History from the University of Arkansas.

While in high school, Ellis met the love of her life, Gus B. Walton, Jr. They married in Little Rock on June 22, 1963, following their junior year of college. They were devoted to one another for 57 years until Gus's passing in 2018.

As a young wife, Ellis was active in civic and social clubs. She later co-owned Foster Cochran with her dear friend Sue Powell for eight years, and with Gus went on to co-own Poe Travel and World Wide Travel. Their work in travel opened the world to them, and together they found great joy in exploring new cultures and sharing those experiences with family.

Deeply civic-minded, Ellis served on several boards, including The Reynolds Center on Aging, the Psychiatric Research Institute at UAMS, and the Board of Adjustment. Known for her generosity and philanthropic spirit, Ellis supported many organizations that strengthened the Little Rock community.

Above all, Ellis will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Babi," she delighted in spending time with them and even traveled with them across the globe. Africa was her favorite destination, and one of her greatest joys was taking her children and grandchildren there for a trip of a lifetime. Additionally, she treasured spending time at her vacation home in Grayton Beach, Florida, surrounded by her family.

Ellis is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Walton Frazier (Tom) and Layton Walton Prochazka; her eight grandchildren-Alexandra Neal Frazier, Dr. Benjamin Cabol Frazier, William Thomas Frazier, McKenzie Moriconi Townsend (Matthew), Raina Marie Prochazka, Elizabeth Moriconi Maris (Whitt), Lillian Walton Moriconi, Niall Augustus Prochazka and her brother, Bruce Thomas Bullion III (Laura). Additionally, Ellis had great-grandsons she loved. Ellis also had numerous friends, many lifelong, whose company she enjoyed almost as much as her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

A visitation celebrating Ellis' life will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham Street, Little Rock, on Thursday, October 9 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our House or the Arkansas House of Prayer. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lee Archer for his kindness and to the amazing staff at Arkansas Hospice for their loving care.
