Ellon Reed Neatherland, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, August 17, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Ellon devoted over 20 years of service working in the cafeteria at Weston High School, where she touched many lives with her kindness and care.

She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and found great joy in worship and fellowship. Ellon loved her family deeply and cherished every opportunity to visit with others. She enjoyed sewing, coloring, and especially cooking-always sharing her delicious meals with family and friends. With a love for planting flowers, tending to her potted plants, and admiring butterflies, Ellon's life was filled with simple joys that reflected her gentle and giving spirit.

Ellon is survived by her children, Randy Neatherland, Lisa Neatherland Stevenson (Randy), and Darren Neatherland (Tracy); 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud Reed and Michael Reed; brother-in-law, David Neatherland; sister-in-law, LaWanda Ponder; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Neatherland; father, Robert Henry Reed; mother, Dora Margaleane (Neal) Reed; sisters, Darlene Atkins and Ida Geneva May.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held the chapel on Thursday, August 21 at 10:00 AM in with Bro. Chris Lee and Bro. Mike Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Weston, Louisiana under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Neatherland, Jason Potts, Matt Stevenson, Malachi Neatherland, Grayson Hensley and Jaden Garrett. Honorary pallbearer will be Jagger Leedy.
