Elmer Charles Allen Jr., 68, passed away on November 26, 2024. Born in Rockland, Maine, on December 14, 1955, to Olive LaCourse (Grover) and Elmer Charles Allen Sr., Elmer carried the heart of a true “Mainer” throughout his life, even after moving to New Hampshire in 1957.
Elmer was a man of many talents and passions. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he dedicated much of his life to building both homes and relationships as a skilled carpenter and “jack of all trades.” He was a man who appreciated the simple joys of life—clam digging, lobster fishing, hunting, camping, and playing pool. Elmer had a love for puzzles of all kinds, whether it was crosswords, traditional puzzles, or poker games with family and friends. Known for his culinary skills, he delighted many with his famous boneless turkey and the meals he prepared with love. Elmer, lovingly knows as “Pops” by his grandchildren, was a devoted and caring grandfather.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Towne-Allen, and his cherished children: daughter Kellie McGarvey and husband John, son Albert Bussiere and wife Katie, daughter Amanda Fournier and spouse Jr., and daughter Heather Richard and husband Amin.
Elmer’s legacy lives on in his mother, Olive LaCourse; his siblings: Ruth Towne, Carol Smith, Denise Boutin, Debbie Morin, Butch Morin, Mike Morin, Mark Morin, and Diane Coltey; as well as his 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who were his greatest pride and joy. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish the memories of his kind heart, laughter, and unwavering support.
He is reunited in peace with those who predeceased him: his father, Elmer Charles Allen Sr.; his siblings, Tammy Oxley, John Lawrence, and Richard Allen.
Elmer’s life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and the bonds of family. His impact on those who knew him will remain as strong as the homes he helped build and as enduring as the love he gave freely.
A gathering to honor Elmer's life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH.
Elmer will forever be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend—a man whose spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
