Elmer L. Books, 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 25th, 2024, at Sweigart Haven in Londonderry Village, Palmyra. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Margaret Books.
Born in Cleona, PA on August 24th, 1931, he was the son of the late Elmer M. and Carrie (Light) Books. Elmer was a Member and Trustee of Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226, Zembo Shrine, Mounted Horses Patrol of the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg Consistory, Palm Squares Square Dancing, Pine Pauper Sportsman Association, and the Cleona Fire Company. He loved sports, farming, hunting, horses, and spending time with family.
Surviving are two children, Shirley L. Dailey, wife of Robert L. of Lebanon, Elmer C. Books of Cleona, five grandchildren, Jake D. Books, Sophia M. Books, Robert J. Dailey, husband of Jaclyn B., Jennifer L. Boehmer, wife of Jeremy J., Marie A. Gough, wife of Kent F., and nine great grandchildren, Florence V. Dailey, Caroline A. Dailey, Beau A. Dailey, Casey H. Boehmer, Josh R. Boehmer, Lincoln O. Gough, Robert B. Gough, Tyler M. Gough, and Anniston F. Gough. In addition to his wife, Elmer was preceded in death by three siblings, Irma Mellinger, Curtis Books, and Gladys Lehman.
A public viewing will be held from 1:00PM-2:00PM on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St. Annville, PA 17003. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00PM on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Grand View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, 529 W. Penn Ave. Cleona, PA 17042, or to the Londonderry Village Good Samaritan Fund, 1200 Grubb Rd. Palmyra, PA 17078, in his memory. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville is handling arrangements.
