Elmer Price Dotson of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away at age 84 on July 25, 2025, at Frankfort Regional Hospital. Born in Scott County, Kentucky, Elmer was the son of the late Price Woodrow Dotson and Clara DeMoss Dotson. He was a tireless worker all his life, including as a yearling manager in Woodford County and later as a fixture at Tom's Custom Cabinets working alongside both his sons and his daughter, where he built cabinets as well as friendships for decades.
Elmer will be remembered for his humor, always quick with a joke or a funny remark to make others smile. He was a longtime member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church and was lovingly known as Papaw, Noonie, and Farmer by his friends and family.
More than anything, Elmer worked hard for the family he cherished so deeply. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Debbie Smith (Charles) of Harrodsburg; his son, Thomas Price Dotson (Barbara) of Versailles; and his beloved sisters, Delores "Dodie" Warford and Joyce Boettcher (Brian), both of Versailles, and his sister-in-law, Wanda Dotson. Papaw adored his grandchildren: Damon Hardy, Kayla Trosper, Caleb Dotson, Lexy Dotson, and Emilee Dotson, as well as his great-grandchildren: Jade Hardy, Kaylee Hardy, Elijah Dotson, Jasper Hardy, and Little Marty.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Brenda Hulse Dotson, their son, Donald Lee Dotson, and his brother, Walter Lee Dotson.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm, with burial afterward at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Dotson, Caleb Dotson, Lexy Dotson, Steve Sames, George Beasley, and Charlie Smith. Damon Hardy will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family would love to hear your stories and memories of Elmer. Please share your condolences and memories on his tribute page at www.Blackburnandward.com.
