Elmer Clayton Finney, Jr. was born on September 10, 1933, in Americus, Kansas, one of seven children born to Elmer Clayton and Evelyn Marie (Viles) Finney.
On September 18, 1955, Clayton married Patricia M. Stone. Together they raised two sons, John and Jordan, and built their life on the family farm.
Clayton loved farming and took great pride in working the land. He enjoyed elk hunting with friends in Colorado and, in later years, found joy in fishing. His favorite pastime, however, was simply visiting and sharing stories with friends. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jordan Paul Finney.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, John Clayton Finney (Anne); his grandchildren, Jennifer Finney-Bosch (Justin) and Christopher A. Sweet (Emiri); his great-grandchildren, Cameron Bosch, Kelsey Mitchell (James), Nico Y. Sweet, and Luca M. Sweet; and his great-great-grandchildren, Oakleigh Varin and Blakelynn Bosch.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, at Sawyer Funeral Home, 137 N. Union, Council Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Finney Memorial Fund.
