Elmer Joseph Lammons

Elmer Joseph Lammons, 88, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 26, 1937 to the late James Malachi Lammons and Emma Deas Lammons. He has made Lake City his home since the late 1960's and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. He worked for Occidental for a little over 23 years as well as the AREO Corporation for a little over 20 years before he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, working in his yard and piddling in his garden. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 51 years, Shirley Elizabeth Lammons; brothers, Stanley Ray Lammons, William Quincy Lammons and James Bobby Lammons; and his sisters, Elsie Hutto & Emily Clarice Caudill.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Lammons (Olivia M. Canales) of Texas, Cheri Lammons of Lake City & Jackie Statham of Lake City; sister, Gladys Muriel Odom (Sevier Odom, Jr.) of Madison; his baby brother and sister-in-law who he helped raise, William Thomasdeceased and Phyllis (Dave) Shull of Lake City; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Harmon of Wellborn, Shawn Michael Harmon of Lake City and Zachary Malachi Harmon of Lake City. Six great-grandchildren, Aidan David Harmon, Gage Robert Harmon, Landon Carter Harmon, Trevor Michael Harmon, Liam Cole Harmon and Kolten James Harmon; along with one great-great-grandchild on the way, also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Lammons will be conducted on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Burl Harkey, officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Lee Memorial Cemetery in Lee, Florida. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church.
