Elmer Langdon 92 of Arcadia Florida and Ten Mile Tennessee passed away February 1, 2025.
Elmer was born in Confluence, Kentucky, February 27, 1933. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers
and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Langdon, sons, Craig (Cindy) Langdon and Steve (Teresa) Langdon of Middletown,
Ohio. Daughter, Allison Martz of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He is survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Burton, Sara Langdon and Alora (Josh) Lawwill of Middletown, Ohio. Devin Martz
and Alayna (Kevin) Callender of Virginia Beach. He has seven great grandchildren, David, Olivia, Roxanne, Easton, Willow,
Ameirah, and Violet.
Elmer volunteered for the Navy in 1952. From basic training, he went to Korea and spent five years as a welder. He spent some
time doing underwater welding.
After his Navy career, he came back to his home in Leslie County, Kentucky. There he met his wife, Betty Joyce Sizemore. They
were married in 1957. Becaue of job availability, he and Betty went to Dayton Ohio. Betty was a teacher and taught in Trotwood,
Ohio. Elmer worked at different jobs.
He moved to Middletown, Ohio in 1959 and started working at Magnode Aluminum extrusion company. He worked there for 30
years retiring in 1989. Most of his career he was a supervisor and did traveling.
Elmer loved his family and many of his hobbies included the family. They camped on many lakes where the family boated, water
skiing, tubing and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking. He made many pieces of furniture. He and Betty built their home in
Tennessee.
His retirement years were spent traveling the state of Florida for five years after he joined TIA camping organization.
One of the places he visited was Toby's in Arcadia, Florida. He and Betty both liked the location and the park and so they settled
down there March 1997.
Those 28 years have gone by so rapidly. Elmer was very active in the park. He made all the military men for a Christmas parade
and now they're on display in the loft of the clubhouse. He made all the horses for the horse racing team. He enjoyed the races.
He was a wood Carver instructor at Toby's. He really enjoyed going to the wood carving class at the Methodist Church in
Arcadia. There he sharpened knives for many years.
He cooked the hotdogs, hamburgers, and fried the fish for the lunches they would have at Toby's.
He and Betty spent five years of serving the donuts on Fridays for morning coffee meeting.
The thing he enjoyed, the most was going fishing down to the Everglades with his buddies.
He loved Toby's and he would have lived there year-round if Betty would have agreed to that arrangement.
