Larry James Thornton, age 73 of Wauchula passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was born on January 4, 1952, in Wauchula, FL to James Thornton and Mamie Hodges Thornton.

He worked for Hardee County Road and Bridge for 35 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He graduated from Hardee High School in 1971. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, and spending time with family enjoying food together. He greatly enjoyed coaching Little League Football and Baseball. He will be remembered as a funny, sarcastic, loving person who was willing to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife Holly Fralish Thornton, children; Jennifer (Thomas) Wheeler of Zolfo Springs, FL, Heather (Tyler) Fairfield of Wauchula, FL, Rachelle Hopper of Quincy, FL and Cesnie Heggie of Zolfo Springs, FL. Also his sister Nancy Hensley of South Carolina. There are 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; Celeste Williams/Michael Youngblood, Miles Yates, Taylor Yates, Quinton Yates, Garrett Williams, Jordan Yates, T.J. Wheeler, Trinton Hopper and Great Grandchild Sebastian Youngblood. There are also several nieces and nephews living in South Carolina.

There will be a Visitation on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 9:00AM – 10:00AM at Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel located at 205 N. 9th Avenue, Wauchula, FL. The Service will follow at 10:00AM with Rev. Blake Hall officiating. The Burial will follow at 11:30AM at Wauchula City Cemetery.
