He was born November 30, 1948 in Richgrove, California, the son of Elmer Marvin and Ruby (Cranford) Matkins. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
On August 14, 1971 he was united in marriage to Paula Jean Johnson in Jones, Oklahoma and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Dale Bentley, Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Shelia Cash, Salina, Kansas, Katrina (Kenneth) Harris, Louisville, Kentucky and Carrie (Terry) Hendrickson, Sacramento, California; a brother Donald (Kathy) Matkins, Ramona, Kansas; a sister, Georgia Nelson, Talihina, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled. Olson's Mortuary, Canton is in charge of arrangements.
