Elmer Vicente Sontay

Elmer Vicente Sontay, 34, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at his residence in Buena Vista, GA. Funeral services will be held at 5:00PM on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Iglesia Jesus Es El Señor with Pastor Abundio Sontay and Pastor Baudelio Lopez officiating. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Caserio Paloma, San Vicente, Buenabaj, Momostenango, Totonicapan, Guatemala.
He was born on August 1, 1988, in in the Caserío Chipuerta, in the village of San Vicente Buenabaj, Momostenango, Totonicapan, Guatemala, to Rigoberto Vicente Vicente and Martina Sontay Vicente. At the age of 5 they moved to the Caserío de Paloma in the same village. In 1996 he entered the Official Rural Mixed School of Caserío Paloma, finishing his primary level in 2002. At the age of 14 he began working as a Masonry assistant with his father for 3 years. When he was 17 he emigrated to the United States, to the city of Buena Vista, Georgia. He lived there for 17 years and 5 months, and was able to fulfill his longed-for dreams, to help his parents and to build a better future. After moving to Georgia, he worked as a machine operator for Tolleson Inc. for 4 years. He later worked as a machine operator at the Powell Forestry Company. In 2017, together with his brother Rudy Vicente, they created their own company with the name: Elmer's Pinestraw & Landscaping. On August 6, 2022, he got engaged to his girlfriend Deyanira Vicente, a marriage which sadly did not come to pass. In 2016, he was Baptized in the Church: Jesus es el Señor, in Buena Vista, Georgia where he persevered until the last days of his life.
Elmer liked to play soccer, basketball, fish, and cook. He was a sociable, friendly, and optimistic person, being for many an example of improvement and perseverance. In March 2019, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. For 3 years and 11 months he fought, like a warrior with an unwavering spirit, based on his faith! Unfortunately it was not possible. He passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Rest in Peace of Who in life he was.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancé, Deyanira Vicente; and by his siblings, Maria Vicente Sontay, Floridalma Vicente Sontay, Ofelia Vicente Sontay, Rudy Vicente Sontay, Rosalba Vicente Sontay, Marleny Vicente Sontay, and Jeimy Vicente Sontay.

Elmer Vicente Sontay, de 34 años, de Buena Vista, GA, falleció el martes 14 de febrero de 2023 en su residencia en Buena Vista, GA. Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo a las 5:00 PM el domingo 19 de febrero de 2023 en la Iglesia Jesús Es El Señor con el Pastor Abundio Sontay y el Pastor Baudelio López oficiando. Será enterrado en una fecha posterior en Caserio Paloma, San Vicente, Buenabaj, Momostenango, Totonicapán, Guatemala.
Nació en el Caserío Chipuerta, de la Aldea San Vicente Buenabaj, Momostenango, Totonicapan, Guatemala.
El primero de Agosto de 1988. Siendo él, el tercer hijo de Rigoberto Vicente Vicente y de Martina Sontay Vicente. Entre 8 hermanos, 6 mujeres y 2 varones. Siendo ellos: Maria, Floridalma, Ofelia, Rudy, Rosalba, Marleny, Jeimy. Todos ellos de apellidos Vicente Sontay. A los 5 años se mudaron en el Caserío de Paloma de la misma Aldea. En el año 1996 ingresó a la Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta del Caserío Paloma, culminando su nivel primario en el año 2002. A la edad de 14 años empezó a trabajar en la labor de ayudante de Albañilería junto a su padre por 3 años. A los 17 años emigró a los Estados Unidos de Norte América, en la ciudad de Buena Vista, del Estado de Georgia. Donde vivió por 17 años y 5 meses, para poder cumplir sus sueños anhelados, de ayudar a sus padres y de construir un mejor futuro. Ingresando en este país mencionado en el año 2005. Laborando como operador de maquinarias en la compañía TOLLESON INC. durante 4 años. Seguidamente laboró como operador de maquinaria en la compañía POWELL FORESTRY. En el año 2017 él juntamente con su hermano Rudy Vicente crearon su propia compañía con el nombre: Elmer's Pinestraw & Landscaping. En la fecha 6 de Agosto del 2022 se comprometieron con su novia Deyanira Vicente en matrimonio que tristemente no se llegó a cumplir. En el año 2016, fue Bautizado en la Iglesia: Jesus es el Señor, de la ciudad de Buena Vista, Georgia donde él perseveraba hasta los últimos días de su vida.
Mientras él vivía, le gustaba jugar fútbol, básquetbol, pescar y cocinar. Fue una persona sociable, amigable, optimista siendo para muchos un ejemplo de superación y perseverancia. En el mes de Marzo del año 2019 fue diagnosticado con Leucemia. Por 3 años y 11 meses luchó, como un guerrero con un espíritu inquebrantable, basado en su fe! Lamentablemente no fue posible. Terminando así con su vida el día Martes, 14 de Febrero del 2023.
