Rev. Elmo Johnson entered this life February 20, 1941, and departed this life March 10, 2026, being 85 years and 18 days. He was born in Buckhorn, Kentucky, son of the late Beechie and Essie (Gibson) Johnson.

Rev. Elmo started his ministry as a song leader and was an original member of the Dayton Ambassadors (1967- 1976) and enjoyed singing for the Lord. He was also a songwriter of 3 songs (1 being copyrighted), and was working on a fourth at his passing. In 1969 he was ordained as a minister of the gospel. In 1976 he was called to his first pastoral position and served as pastor in four churches throughout his 57 years in ministry. He was serving as pastor of the Lighthouse Baptist Temple when the Lord called him to his heavenly home. During his ministry he obtained a BA degree in Theology. He is at peace with his Savior, the one he served faithfully.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Oma Jean; his brothers Elmer and Estill Johnson; his sisters, Delilah Chasteen and Debi Johnson. Rev. Elmo is survived by his beloved and devoted wife and best friend of 66 years, Ruth (Milligan) Johnson; his sons James (Kim) Johnson and Steve (Kim) Johnson; his daughter Belinda (Mark) Crawford; 6 grandchildren, Holly (Bill) Knightly, Sierra (Jacob) White, Michael (Ashley) Johnson, Cara (Jared) Worthen, Amanda (Michael) Carr, and Kyle Tillman; 6 great-grandchildren, Derrick White, Hayden Johnson, Lucas Worthen, Charlie Carr and Emily Carr, and Remy Johnson; his sister Edna (Cliff) Smith; and a host of family and friends.

A Visitation will be held 3 – 5 p.m., Sunday March 15, 2026, at the Dalton Funeral Home, 6900 Weaver Road, Germantown, Ohio, where the Funeral Service will be held 12 p.m., Monday March 16th, with Pastor Scott Young officiating. Please share condolences at www.daltonfh.net
