Elnora Jackson Reddix was born on April 9, 1940, to the late Solomon Harris and Adella Jackson Johnson in Vienegar Bend, AL. From an early age, she carried herself with grace, strength, and compassion. She dedicated her life to God, her family, and her community and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will never be forgotten. She was united in holy matrimony to Joseph David Reddix on November 5, 1961.

She graduated from Elizabeth H. Keys School in 1958. She graduated from the first black class of nurses from Singing River Hospital in 1961. She retired from Jackson County Civic Action Headstart after 40 years of employment.

She was a faithful member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently in many capacities. She believed in the power of prayer, and her faith was her guiding light, and she instilled those same values in her children and grandchildren.

She transitioned into eternal rest and exchanged her earthen vessel for a new and glorified body on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Ocean Springs, MS, at the age of 85. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her wisdo,m and her ability to make everyone feel special. Whether it was offering a listening ear, telling a story of her younger years, or simply holding your hand when you needed comfort, she had a gift of making people feel loved.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Joseph "Joe" David Reddix, her son, Joseph Solomon Reddix, her daughter, Debra Reddix Lewis, three sisters, Denise Lewis, Patricia Jackson, and Anita Reynolds, and two brothers, Shawn and Eddie Harris.

Madea, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted and loving daughters, Rebecca Reddix of Ocean Springs, MS, and G. Rene' Simmons of Hamilton, OH, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She also leaves a host of other special family and friends.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that her laughter, her prayers, and her love will live on in all of us. She was truly a woman of God –faithful, resilien,t and full of grace.

"Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord."
--Matthew 25:23
