Eloise Mary Dauley (92 yrs) passed away on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, while holding hands with Ken, her sweetheart of 67 years. Eloise is predeceased by her mother and father, Helen and Albert Taylor, her brothers Quentin Taylor and Joe Taylor, and her mother and father-in-law, Violet and Charles Dauley.
Eloise is survived by her dear husband, Kenneth Dauley; their six children: Yvonne (Gerry) Jackson, Annette Dauley, Diane Leonard, Janet Dauley Altwarg, Ken Dauley, and David Dauley; her six grandchildren: Jeremy (Lisa) Jackson, Robert (Amanda) Jackson, Matt (Leigh) Jackson, Amanda (Mike) Stanek, Taylor Altwarg, and Annie Altwarg; and six great-grandchildren: Courtney, Kacey, Austin, Lauren, Jodie, and Mya. She is also survived by her brother, Nick (Dawn) Taylor, and sister-in-law, Judy Taylor, as well as many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.
Eloise was born in Binghamton, NY on September 17th, 1932 to the late Helen and Albert Taylor. A graduate of Harpursville High School in 1950, she then moved on to SUNY Cortland to pursue coursework in early childhood education, earning her bachelor's degree in 1954.
Eloise started her teaching career at Whitney Point Central School District in September of 1954; touching the lives of countless students throughout her time as a kindergarten and first grade teacher before retiring in 1990.
Aside from caring for her family, Eloise enjoyed baking, tending to her flourishing flower gardens, as well as spending time quilting and crocheting. Eloise found such pride in making quilts for others, and especially enjoyed the companionship of her quilting friends while pouring her heart into homemade quilt creations that remain treasured by many loved ones.
Eloise was a devout Catholic and immersed herself within the St. Patrick's church community and hospitality group. She was a Catechism (CCD) instructor and volunteer at the food pantry; continually leading her life with love and service to others. The local church community remained near and dear to her heart, from the first day the doors opened at St. Patrick's church on Keibel Road in 1962, to quietly practicing her faith at home when she was no longer able to attend in person.
Her greatest joy was the life she lived with her husband and family.
Eloise's memory will be cherished by her loving family, dear friends and neighbors, and all who were blessed to know her. She holds a special place in the hearts of so many people, and her loving legacy will live on for all of our days. May the goodness and kind nature of our beloved Eloise be instilled in us forever.
