Elsa "Rosa" Giovinazzo, 90, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away early on September 3, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Born in Florida, Uruguay, on January 11, 1935, Elsa lived for periods in Toronto, Canada, and West Palm Beach, Florida, before her final years in Burlington surrounded by loving friends and family.

Elsa was loving, generous, nurturing, and resilient. Fiercely dedicated to her children, she always ensured that her family's needs were met through her strong work ethic. Elsa once said, "My life is with my kids." A yerba mate enthusiast, she enjoyed dancing, card playing, telenovelas, and feeding those in her care.

Elsa–fondly known as "Abuela" to those near and far–enjoyed spending time with her many friends, children, and grandchildren. She also had the joy of connecting with her great-grandchildren in her later years.

Elsa is survived by her sister, Mabel, and by her children: Miguel, Elsa, Oscar (Donna), Jorge (Valerie), and Monica (Jason); her multitude of grandchildren: Christina, Michael, Alejandra, Stephanie, Jon Carlo, Rosalee, Sergio, Jeremy, Alexis, Peyton, Gabrielle, Angela, Nicole (Parker), and Nathan (Madisyn); and her great-grandchildren: Xavier, Isaiah, Avery, Zavith, Aubrey, Oliver, Eleanore, and Dawson.

She will be remembered for her nurture, quick wit, strong work ethic, and loyalty to her family.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm in Pine Hill Cemetery, 101 E Summit Ave. Burlington, NC 27215.
