Elsa D. Waltz June 19, 1945 – October 18, 2025 Tacoma, Washington
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of Elsa D. Waltz, age 80, of Tacoma, Washington. Elsa was born in Samar, Philippines, where she grew up with a deep sense of faith, family, and laughter. She went on to earn her college degree and began her career as a teacher before meeting the love of her life, Richard Waltz. Together, they built a beautiful life after relocating to the United States when Richard was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Elsa continued her career as a dedicated supervisor at AAFES, where her leadership, warmth, and humor touched everyone she worked with. She was a devoted Catholic-"as Catholic as they come," as her granddaughter Sherise lovingly says-and her faith guided her through every chapter of her life.
Beyond her work and faith, Elsa was known for her zest for life and her boundless energy. She loved to travel, whether it was by car or plane-any opportunity for a new adventure, she was ready. She was also a proud bargain hunter who could turn a shopping trip into a full-blown event.
Family was the true center of Elsa's world. She was her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, always showing up-rain or shine-for every school event, concert, and game. She loved nothing more than cheering them on, celebrating their successes, and supporting them in everything they did. She was always so excited to see what they were doing next and never missed a chance to tell others how proud she was of them.
Elsa was kind, generous, sassy, and the life of every party. Her personality shined so brightly that no matter what room she walked into, she instantly drew people in. There wasn't a place she went where someone didn't know her-or where she didn't make a new friend.
She is survived by her loving husband Richard, and her daughters Raquel, Sharon, and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Mary Ann. Elsa's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Sherise, Jaslynn, Jordan, Nicholas, Jonas, and Brooklyn, who will forever carry her laughter and light in their hearts.
Elsa's family will remember her as a woman of unwavering faith, radiant joy, and deep compassion. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort knowing she is dancing and smiling in heaven, surrounded by love.
Prayer - "Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
