ELSIE BAULD Obituary

BAULD, Elsie D. Age 83, of Atkinson, NH, passed away on January 8, 2026. She was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt, a devoted wife and mother and, most special of all, she was "Bee-Dee" to her granddaughter. Born in Somerville, MA, on June 14, 1942, to the late Frank and Elsie L. Scioli, Elsie was of proud Italian and Portuguese ancestry. She grew up on Bartlett Street with two brothers in a home filled with love and animals and great cooking. As an adult, she brought that same spirit to the family she started with her husband, Bill. Both graduates of Somerville High School, mutual friends would reconnect Elsie and Bill later in life, and the two would go on to spend 41 happy years together, living in Vermont, Massachusetts, and, finally, New Hampshire, where they raised their son, Andrew. Her family and friends were everything to Elsie. She never forgot a single birthday or anniversary, and there was nothing that made her happier than a holiday surrounded by her rowdy and loving family. Elsie was a talented cook, always collecting and testing out new recipes. Whether it was a summer breakfast on the beach or dinner around the kitchen table, a meal cooked by Elsie was a memorable affair-always accompanied by laughter and many, many stories. Elsie was also a devout Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and a lifelong Democrat. Not a single person passed through her life without at some point being interrogated about their allegiances, both sporting and political. While a few Republicans managed to slip their way into her orbit, no Yankees fan ever breached her walls. It won't be the same watching a game and not hearing her complain - in her thick Boston accent - of those "buzzards" on the opposing team. In 2000, Elsie compiled a cookbook and wrote a remembrance for her own mother. Today, those words perfectly encapsulate Elsie's own life: She was a person of simple needs - her happiness was her family. To watch her child grow, and marry, and to delight in the birth of a grandchild (who brought her so much joy) was her unselfish dream fulfilled. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, William; and her brother, Frank. She is survived by her son, Andrew; her daughter-in-law, Alexandra; and her "two little loves," her dog, Tucker; and her granddaughter, Louisa; her brother, Edward; and sister-in-law, Ann; sister-in-law, Penni; too many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews to list and friends from every period of her life. She adored them all. Visiting Hours: A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakes Region Humane Society, 11 Old Rte. 28, Ossipee, NH, 03864 or to New Hampshire PBS, attn: Member Services, 268 Mast Road, Durham, NH 03824.
