Elsie Knotts Obituary
ELSIE M. (LOONEY) KNOTTS, 90, of Springfield, passed away on August 12, 2025. She was born in Camp Creek, Ohio on October 9, 1934, to her parents Everett and Edna (Viers) Looney. Elsie worked and eventually retired from Northridge Elementary as the school secretary after 24 dedicated years. Elsie will always be remembered by her family as being a wonderful cook and loved spending time in the kitchen. She loved to travel, mostly out west, to see extended family and she always looked forward to booking her next trip. Elsie was talented in many ways, including her crochet and knitting projects, or the fruitful garden she tended to diligently every year. Above all: Elsie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. Elsie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Don Knotts, children Kevin (Deana) Knotts and Melanie (Brian) Phillips, grandchildren Jaron (Lindsey) Phillips, Megan (William) Spetrino, Lindsey (Jason) Davis, and Michael (Megan) Knotts, great-grandchildren Rowen, Will, Finley, Nora, Teagyn, and Elisabeth, step-great-grandchildren Troy, Trey, and Tensley, her brother John Looney, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings Eileen (Bill) Cutlip, Della (Francis) Dunham, Faye (William) Emmons, and Art (Rose) Looney. A private graveside will be held at the convenience of the family. Elsie will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful care they received through Ohio Hospice. Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio Hospice or The Alzheimer's?Association in memory of Elsie. Elsie went to school with my brother Dan Detrick from grade 1 at Tremont City to graduation at northwestern. He always talked how very nice she was. Our sympathies to your family.
