Elsie Purvis Obituary

Elsie J. Purvis

August 11, 1929 - June 23, 2025

Elsie Jane Purvis was born in Jefferson, Iowa, to Claude and Aldra (Dunn) Purvis and raised in Perry, Iowa. She led a full and purposeful life, marked by professional achievement and deep community involvement. She passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Attic Angel in Middleton, where she resided for the last few years.

Elsie broke barriers as the first woman as a corporate trainer at AT&T in Texas. She also gave her time to causes she cared about, including suicide prevention efforts in Texas, and volunteer work in Madison, Wisconsin, with Agrace Hospice and the Oakwood Residents Library.

She supported local charities, enjoyed traveling, and was known for her quick wit and thoughtful spirit. To her grandchildren, she'll always be remembered for her sugar cookies and steady encouragement.

Elsie is survived by her children: Beth Dunn of Middleton, Sue (Robert) Howell of Madison, Kellen Kautzky (Kelly) of Middleton, Christopher (Karen) Kautzky of Iowa City, and Bev Kautzky (Tom Stenback) of Madison. She is also survived by eight much-loved grandchildren and their families, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Kautzky and seven siblings.

The family will gather to celebrate Elsie's life this summer.
