Elsie L. Shaw, 90, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at her home in Browns Summit.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Osceola Baptist Church with Pastor Randall Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00-3:00 PM.
Elsie was born on February 16, 1934, to the late Tobe Hines and Nancy Hodge in Sparta, NC. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, shopping with friends and family. She also loved interacting with babies, baking, and collecting porcelain dolls and beanie babies. Elsie was very crafty and worked with sand aquariums and liquid embroidery. She was also a talented seamstress and made clothing for her three daughters . She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary with the Hauppauge Fire Department and the VFW of Midway-Monroeton. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and will be remembered as a loving and giving person and was always willing to help those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Stanley Shaw Sr.; son, Robert Shaw; sisters, Maxine Lane, Joanne Woodcock ; and brother, William Pruitt.
She is survived by her children; Stanley Shaw Jr. (Debbie), Linda Ropell (Chris), Cheryl Reeves (Mike), Laura Doherty (Martin); grandchildren; Amie, Krista, Joshua, Rebecca, Jacob, Matthew, Robert, Eric, Katie, Conor, and ElsieLee; great-grandchildren; Riley, Regan, Ramsey, Nash, Skylar, Scout, Maggie-jean, Haley, Charleigh, Clinton, and Matthew; she is also survived by her faithful and loving dog, LoLee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Osceola Baptist Church, 7711 Highway 150 East Browns Summit, NC 27214.
