ELVA NELL DUPRIEST RANKIN: Elva Nell Dupriest, 73 of Rankin, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Rankin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Rankin with Reverend Randy Bush officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM at the Atwell Cemetery in Callahan County, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane. Mrs. Dupriest was born on November 20, 1936 in Atwell, Callahan County, Texas. She married Garland Dupriest on May 30, 1956 in Atwell. She retired from the Rankin Independent School District after 27 years of service. She had lived in Rankin since 1967; and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Valeria Pillians Rouse; her son, Michael Dale Dupriest; as well as four sisters, Lanette Rouse, Loreta Wynn, Eddie Faye Dillard, and Doris Goble. Survivors include her husband, Garland Dupriest of Rankin; her son, Gary Dupriest and his wife Christy of Midland; four grandchildren, Ryan Dupriest, and Tyler Dupriest both of Lubbock, Austin Dupriest of Rankin, and Kayla Dupriest of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
