Elva Torralva Perez, 85, of Uvalde passed away on July 25, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 30th at 2 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 31st at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Elva was born on December 31, 1938, to Simon and Dolores (Castillo) Torralva in Uvalde, Texas.
As a young girl, she enjoyed helping at her family’s storefront, “Torralvas Grocery Store”. After Elva graduated from Uvalde High School, she then met the love of her life, Jose Angel Perez, and went on to have three daughters, Jo Ann, Lena and Debbie. While being a devoted wife and mother, Elva began her career as a teacher’s aide with the Uvalde School District where she grew an abundant amount of love, for her both her career and her students. She completed over 20 years in this position and after retirement, she spent her days doing what she loved most, which was helping to care for her grandchildren, playing bingo, tending to her yard and shopping. Elva truly valued the meaning of family and had a way of making everyone feel so loved and special to her. Elva will always be remembered for her infectious smile and unwavering love.
She is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann Flores and husband, Roy, Debbie Rangel and husband, Robert and Lena De La Cerda all of Uvalde; grandchildren, Roy Flores, Jr., Jared Flores, Robert Rangel, Jr., Rebekah Garza, Rennae Rangel, and Jysenia De la Cerda Garcia; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Eva Martinez and Dora Santos, Belia Verdusco, and Catarina Torralva; four brothers; Andres Torralva, Antonio Torralva, Ruben Torralva, and Samuel Torralva; and son in law, Edward De La Cerda.
Pallbearers will be Roy Flores, Jr., Robert Rangel, Jr., Jared Flores, Brandon Flores, Ryan Flores, and Willie Garcia, IV
Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Flores, Sr. Robert Rangel, Sr., Willie Garcia, III, Felix Garza, III, and Jesse Esparza
