Magdalena A. Perez

Magdalena A. Perez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, peacefully entered into rest on November 29, 2025, at the age of 102, at her home in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Born with a dedicated and hard-working spirit, Magdalena devoted thirty years of her career to the Harlingen school district as a bus driver until her well-deserved retirement.

Magdalena possessed a true green thumb, finding great joy and solace in caring for her plants and flowers. She loved nature, often spending her time sitting outside on her porch, bird-watching, and engaging in long, cherished conversations with her children and extended family members. Among her greatest pleasures were cooking, and enjoying the delicious, homemade meals, especially the corn tortillas, lovingly prepared by her daughter.

She is survived by her two devoted children: Gloria Berlanga of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Robert Perez of Lansing, Michigan, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her long life.

Magdalena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Isidoro Perez; her son, Rodolfo "Rudy" Perez; and her six sisters: Micaela Gonzalez, Natividad Garcia, Julia Zuniga, Inez Castillo, Guadalupe Tamez, and Maria Silva.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas. The funeral will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, departing the funeral home at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Harlingen with Father Ruben Delgado as celebrant. The burial will follow at Ashland Memorial Park in Harlingen, Texas.
