Elvira Kessler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home in Linden on November 27, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born in Lamesa, Texas, on July 4, 1948, to W.B. and Lazell Stafford.
Known for her warm and generous spirit, Elvira was deeply devoted to her family. She and her husband, Frank Kessler, shared 45 years of love and companionship. Elvira treasured her role as a mother to her son, Daniel, and as "Emoe" to Ethan and Sallyanne. Her family meant the world to her, and she was happiest when surrounded by them.
Elvira had a rewarding career in banking, where she enjoyed helping others and forming meaningful connections. She will be remembered for her kindness, her compassion, and her deep concern for those around her.
She was known for her sense of style, always taking pride in her appearance and enjoying a good shopping trip. She had a love for horses, dogs, and long walks, and she found joy in simple pleasures such as watching western movies or spending time with her grandchildren.
Above all these things, what guided every part of Elvira's life was her deep and unwavering faith. A lifelong follower of Christ, Elvira's faith truly was the cornerstone of her character and the source of her strength. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and lived out her beliefs with sincerity and boldness. From the time Daniel was young, she taught him the importance of knowing Jesus as Savior, reminding him that faith was a personal decision, something no one else could make for him. Elvira was never shy about sharing her faith; she often spoke to friends and even strangers about trusting in Jesus, wanting everyone to know the hope she held so dear.
Prayer was also central to who she was. She prayed continuously for her family, and after Daniel and Jessica married, she made sure they always knew she was lifting them up in prayer, simply because she loved them. Her well-worn and heavily marked Bible stands as a testament to her devotion, filled with notes, underlined passages, and scriptures that guided her daily life. Among her favorites was Romans 10:9-10: "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Lazell Stafford, and her sister-in-law, Janice Autrey. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Kessler; her son, Daniel Kessler, and his wife, Jessica; her grandchildren, Ethan and Sallyanne; her sisters, LaDell and her husband Jimmy, and Yolanda and her husband Leonard; as well as many extended family members and friends.
