Embrey White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Money and King Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Jan. 27, 2026.
Embrey Pauline White, age 83, of Vienna, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Pauline was born on March 16, 1942, in Perquimans County, North Carolina, to the late Johnnie Cephas Baccus and Maggie Winslow Baccus. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Dempsey White, with whom she shared more than 62 years of love, laughter and companionship.

Pauline dedicated her professional life to public service, spending decades at the Central Intelligence Agency, where she became a deeply respected and trusted member of the Office of Security. Her work focused on the careful evaluation and analysis of individuals seeking security clearances-an essential function underpinning the success and safety of the Agency's global operations.

Pauline was regarded as an institution within the Office of Security. Her work ensured that sensitive information was entrusted only to those worthy of it, helping safeguard intelligence sources, protect agency personnel, and preserve the flow of critical information needed to keep the nation secure.

Beyond her technical expertise, Pauline was a gifted mentor, teacher, and advocate. She trained and guided young professionals in analyzing complex information, making sound recommendations, and navigating both professional and personal challenges. She championed education, supported colleagues as they pursued college degrees, and advocated for their advancement-opening doors to meaningful careers and opportunities across the country and around the world.

Known for her warmth and humanity, Pauline brought joy and stability to even the most demanding work environments. She was famous for her generosity, her welcoming office, and

her ability to lift spirits-whether through thoughtful counsel, shared laughter, office celebrations, or her beloved Christmas candy.

Above all, Pauline is remembered not only for her extraordinary contributions to national security, but for the countless lives she touched through kindness, mentorship, and quiet leadership. Her legacy lives on in the many professionals she guided, the standards she set, and the better, safer world she helped create.

A woman with a true heart of gold, Pauline was known for her giving and compassionate nature. She cherished staying in close touch with friends and family and was famous for her lengthy telephone conversations. If you needed a listening ear or thoughtful advice, Pauline was always there.

Over the years, she found great joy in collecting unique dishware, which she proudly used when entertaining family and friends. An excellent cook, her beautifully set tables became the backdrop for many fabulous homemade Southern meals and cherished gatherings.

Above all else, Pauline was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her heart, and she expressed her love through constant care, encouragement, and unwavering support. She shared an especially close bond with her only granddaughter, Lauren, whom she cherished deeply and showered with boundless love.

She is survived by her husband, Dempsey White; her daughter, Tanya Nass; her son-in-law, Doug Nass; and her beloved granddaughter, Lauren Nass.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her four sisters, Leona Meads, Lessie Baccus, Ruby Baccus, and Phyllis Mansfield, and her six brothers, Odell Baccus, Lindsay Baccus, Adrian Baccus, Marvin Baccus, Gilbert Baccus, and Aubrey Baccus.

Pauline's presence filled every room with warmth and care. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, lessons, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Heartfelt thanks to the friends and family who have kept Pauline and her family in their thoughts and prayers. A special expression of gratitude is extended to the compassionate care team at Sunrise of Vienna, whose kindness and dedication to Pauline will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on February 12, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Money & King Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at Quantico National Cemetery.
