Emelia Maglio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, LTD. on Sep. 16, 2025.
In Loving Memory of Emelia Maglio 1935 – 2025 Emelia "Marie" Maglio, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family on September 13, 2025 she left behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. Born to the late Antoinette and Michele Specchio, Emelia grew up in a close-knit family that cherished tradition, faith, and togetherness. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Dr. Rodolfo Maglio, the love of her life and constant companion. Emelia was the cherished mother of Maria Maglio (Robert) Klima, Frances (late Chris) Jung, Alfonso (Laura) Maglio, and her late daughter, Nicoletta Maglio Arce. Her nurturing heart extended to her role as a loving grandmother to Terek (Sammantha) Ahady, Amelia, Nicoletta Abigail, and Joseph. She was one of six siblings: late Anna Specchio, late Frankie Specchio, Frances (late Vito) Dicanio, late Lucille Carole (late Gatano) DeSimone, and late Annette Specchio, and was a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was cousin-sister to Prudy Black (James) and step-grandmother to Nicole, Jennifer and Andrew. Deeply devout, Emelia held a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and lived her faith with grace and humility. Her strength, compassion, and selflessness were evident in everything she did, from raising her family to caring for others. A woman of profound warmth and kindness, Emelia was known for her gentle spirit, sharp mind, and immense capacity to love. She was an extraordinary homemaker and cook, and she had an open door to all who entered. She embraced the modern world with curiosity and confidence, finding joy in technology and connections. Emelia's life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and family. She will be remembered always and missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know and love her. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave. in Libertyville. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery. For info: 847-362-3009 or share a memory at www.burnettdane.com. "Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
