Emelitza Martinez

Emelitza "Amy" Martinez, age 36, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on September 9, 2024, in her hometown. Born on June 26, 1988, at Bridgeport Hospital to the late Lizsandra Martinez and Wilfredo Martinez, Amy was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, where she was raised alongside her beloved big sister, Nalin Martinez.
Amy had a heart of gold and was known for her sweet, caring, and funny personality. She was a hardworking, smart, and dependable woman who always took care of business. An amazing cook and unwavering support to those she loved, Amy was always there for everyone, especially her family. She loved hard and never held grudges, showing strength and resilience in everything she did.
In 2023, Amy proudly completed a phlebotomy course, starting a career she was passionate about. She also worked as a supervisor at Wendy's in Shelton, where her hard work and caring nature made her a favorite among her coworkers.
Amy is survived by her two children, Tenell Jacob Walker (TJ) and Zhanae Heaven Akins, her big sister, Nalin Martinez, and her nieces, Celenia, Lizsandra, and Zoe. She will be deeply missed by her cousins, Marilyn Martinez, Josh, twins Jordan and Jayvon, her mama Lila Torres, and many other loving, aunts, cousins, friends, and extended family members. Amy was predeceased by her parents, her cousin, Jose Tito Martinez, and many other relatives.
Amy's loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
