Fort Kent--- Emery "Legs" Labbe, age 95, died on November 1, 2025. He was born in Wallagrass on October 29,1930.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Aimee & Veronique Labbe, his first wife Rinette (Raymond) Labbe, her parents, Albert & Marie, Ernest Pinette, his second wife Carole (Michaud) Lagasse-Labbe, a brother, Arms, and a granddaughter Sarah Saucier.
He is survived by his children, Vernon and Joyce, Ruth, Vera and Dean, Carl and Linda, Luke and Ellen; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; step children, Darlene and Wayne, Pam and Joey, Randy, Kerry and Sarah, 7 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.
Three things Legs treasured most: time with family and friends, love of sports and, of course, parties! He was a die-hard fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, the Warriors and Bengals. He was a sports legend himself excelling in bowling, baseball, and fast pitch softball.
He was a graduate of FKCHS, the Madawaska Training School and UMFK. Legs' career in education lasted 30+ years as a teacher, principal, and vice principal. During that time he was also a sports reporter for SJVT and became an editor following his retirement. He also worked for Daigle & Nadeau and Michaud Funeral Homes. Legs was the first town manager of Wallagrass, on the Fort Kent Town Council, COF State Chief Ranger, FK Chamber of Commerce "Outstanding Citizen of the Year," a member of Aroostook Retired Teachers, FK Senior Center and UMFK alumni.
Legs was inducted into the UMFK Sports Hall of Fame, Maine Press HOF, and Maine Sports HOF, and he was honored into the Maine Remember Me, as well as other honors.
Legs loved being the oldest member of the FK Lions club, where he was known as "Legs Hefner." He carried on that role at Crosswinds during his final 25 months. Always appreciative of pretty women, the staff became family, and Legs' family is thankful for the love and care they provided him.
His last advice to all, "Life is unpredictable. You never know when it will end. So live life to the fullest and live every day as if it's your last! Thank God for the joys in your life and for His blessing. Be happy and enjoy life's journey. I DID!" ---Legs Labbe
