Brewer – Gary B. Sibley, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully February 5, 2026, following a several year battle with dementia. He was born November 19, 1940, in Bangor, a son of the late Harold and Geraldine (Joy) Sibley.
Gary graduated from Husson College, Bangor, with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He worked as an accountant with several businesses in the Bangor area, until going into business with Dick Stacey of former “Stacey’s Fuel Mart.” Gary purchased the business and renamed it “Plaza Gulf,” and operated it for many years, until his retirement in 1996. Even after retirement, Gary continued to manage a convenience store. He was an avid golfer and would tour many of the golf clubs around Bar Harbor and Penobscot Valley. Gary also enjoyed hunting and fishing during his younger years, and cherished touring the woods and waters with his son.
He is survived by two children, Gary Sibley Jr. and his wife Shondelle of Fort Kent, and Becky Quirk of central Maine; four grandchildren, Riley, Griffin, Allie, and Chris; and two nieces, Tonya and Wendy.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by a sister, Linda Hammond.
At Gary’s request, funeral services were handled privately and at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. To share memories and condolences online, please visit www.LajoieFuneralHome.com
