Emil F. Hess
October 22, 1932 - September 24, 2025
Emil Francis Hess, age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Wilmette, Ill., October 22, 1932, son the of the late Emil and Mary (Nee: Goder) Hess.
Emil graduated from St. Catherine's "Class of 1951" in Racine, Wis. and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. On February 14, 1953, at Holy Name Catholic Church, he married his high school sweetheart and valentine, Carol Jean Holsinger. They were blessed with seven children, Lynn Marie, Robert, Jeanne, James, Julie, Michele and David. Emil worked in the car business in the Racine area for over four decades, retiring in the late 1990s. He was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church and the EAA. He enjoyed aircraft, air shows, cars, auto racing, the Packers and Brewers. Emil will be remembered as being very active and independent, as one who enjoyed a good joke and one who was passionate about his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Carol; children, Robert (Linda) Hess, Jeanne Andrewski, James M. Hess, Julie (Robert) Weaver, Michele Davitz, David (Angie) Hess; 13 grandchildren, Danielle Hess, Sam Hess, John (Danielle) Andrewski, Nicole (Anthony) Kringer, Jason Hess, Karli Kai Hess, Sydney Hess, Robbyn (Jeremy) Kuecker, Carrie Weaver, David Weaver, Gracie Davitz, Jenson Hess, Vivian Hess; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Sofia, and Fiona Kringer; sister, Romelle Black; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hauch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lynn Marie; brothers, Robert and Charlie Hess; and son-in-law, Douglas Andrewski.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, October 1, 2025, 11 a.m., with Fr. Juan Camacho officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10 to 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials to the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin have been suggested.
