Emily Gail Stovall Cawthon, age 78, of Royston, and formerly of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born on October 24, 1946, Emily was the daughter of the late Claude and Ada Claire Young Stovall. A dedicated homemaker and devout Christian, she lived her life with grace and compassion. Emily was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lavonia VFW Post 5897. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and a caring friend.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bud" Cawthon; and stepsons, Ricky Cawthon and Thomas Cawthon. Her memory lives on through her family, including her sons & daughters-in-law, Todd & Susanne Collier and Jeff & Melissa Collier; her stepchildren, Helmut Cawthon, Ricky Cawthon, Elizabeth Carey, and Evelyn Dickson; grandchildren, Rachel (Holden) Freel, Zach Collier, Conner Collier, Trevor Collier, and Carley Collier; great-grandson, Aiden Collier; eight step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service honoring Emily's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the VFW Post 5897 Ladies Auxiliary, 144 E Main St, Lavonia, GA 30553.
