They say God gives His toughest battles to His strongest warriors. That was Emily-a warrior. The bravest, the most disciplined, the most resilient. Emily was born on June 18, 1981, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and was loved from the very first day. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she was called home to the Father's House on September 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her husband, Luis Miguel; her children, Eric Michael and Desiree Michelle; her mother, Helmi; her sister, Marielmi; her nieces, Mariengelis and Emily Rocio; and the countless friends who, in one way or another, knew her, loved her, and were touched by the beauty of her soul and her generous spirit. Emily had a free, playful, and vibrant spirit. She proudly served her country as a United States Marine from 2000 to 2004, retiring with the rank of Corporal. Later, she found her true calling as a Spanish teacher-one of the best. Her students adored her, not only for her dedication to teaching but also for the joy and warmth she brought into class. Nothing could stop her once she set her mind to something-she always found a way. She gave her all, and then some. Just as she faced life and its challenges head-on, she also filled the lives of others with her words, her actions, and her love. Emily was a shining star, lighting up every space she entered. Her light touched so many people that it is impossible to measure. From her students, co-workers who became dear friends, neighbors, gym companions, high school friends, lifelong friends, cousins, aunts and uncles, her sister, nieces, children, husband, and mother-Emily will be deeply missed by all. Today, we find peace in knowing that you fulfilled your purpose on earth, leaving indelible marks on those of us who love you. Emily, Titi Bella, Sis, Emi, Mami-we love you beyond words can express. Thank you for giving us the very best of who you were and for teaching us that even though life can be hard at times, there is ALWAYS a reason to fight, to smile, and to love. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Services will begin 11:oo am at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors bestowed by the United States Marine Corps, will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. La más valiente, la más disciplinada, la más resiliente. Emily nació el 18 de junio de 1981 en Ponce, Puerto Rico, y fue amada desde el primer día. Tras una larga y valiente batalla contra el cáncer, fue llamada a la Casa del Padre el 22 de septiembre de 2025, rodeada del amor de su esposo, Luis Miguel; sus hijos, Eric Michael y Desiree Michelle; su madre, Helmi; su hermana, Marielmi; sus sobrinas, Mariengelis y Emily Rocío; y de los incontables amigos que, de una manera u otra, la conocieron, la amaron y fueron tocados por la belleza de su alma y su generoso espíritu. Emily tenía un espíritu libre, juguetón y vibrante. Sirvió con orgullo a su país como Marine de los Estados Unidos desde el 2000 hasta el 2004, retirándose con el rango de Cabo. Más adelante encontró su verdadera vocación como maestra de español-una de las mejores. Sus estudiantes la adoraban, no solo por su dedicación a la enseñanza, sino también por la alegría y calidez que llevaba al salón de clases. Nada podía detenerla una vez que se proponía algo-siempre encontraba la manera. Lo daba todo, y aún más. Así como enfrentaba la vida y sus desafíos de frente, también llenaba las vidas de los demás con sus palabras, sus acciones y su amor. Emily era una estrella que iluminaba cada espacio al que llegaba. Su luz tocó a tantas personas que es imposible medirlo. Desde sus estudiantes, compañeras de trabajo que se convirtieron en grandes amigas, vecinos, compañeros de gimnasio, amistades de la escuela superior, amigas y amigos de vida, primos, tíos y tías, su hermana, sobrinas, hijos, esposo y madre-todos extrañarán profundamente a Emily. Hoy descansamos en la paz de saber que cumpliste tu propósito en la tierra, dejando huellas imborrables en quienes te amamos. Emily, Titi Bella, Sis, Emi, Mami-te amamos más de lo que las palabras pueden expresar. Gracias por darnos lo mejor de ti y por enseñarnos que, aunque la vida pueda ser difícil a veces, siempre hay una razón para luchar, sonreír y amar.
