Ms. Emily Lashley

Lashley, Emily "Granny" 92, of Old Town, passed away August 8, 2013 at her home. Emily was a longtime resident of Pinellas County. She raised her family in Saint Petersburg before moving to Brooksville and most recently, Old Town. Emily was the epitome of a mother. Not only was she a mother to her own 8 children, she was a mother to her friends, fellow church parishioners, and nearly anyone she met. Her home was always open to family and friends who often stopped in to enjoy her wonderful southern cooking. She was a gracious host and regularly held dinner parties, including a weekly supper with her family and her church's pastor and his family. Emily was a caregiver all of her life, from caring for the residents of the nursing home where she worked to caring for her family and friends. Emily's world revolved around her family. She loved her family unconditionally and was an especially doting grandmother. Emily was a funny, flirty, loving woman, who served the Lord every day until her passing. Emily is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Lashley and Opal Collis; brother W.E. Adkins; children Doris (Hubert) Sanderson, Larry (Geraldine) Lashley, Bunny (Rollie Brooks) Killoran, Merle Moynihan, Ruth (Robert Bodiford) Kimball, Danny (Debora) Lashley, and son-in-law Talmadge Creamer; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends. Emily was preceded in death by her son, Billie Lashley; daughter, Lenora Creamer; and son-in-law John Moynihan. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Saturday August 10th. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 am immediately following visitation and will conclude with entombment in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
