Emily Willis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Morris Funeral Home - Hemingway on Nov. 3, 2025.
Emily Ann Floyd Willis, 89, widow of Randolph E. Willis, Sr, passed away surrounded by her children at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Emily was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of the Johnsonville community.

A daughter of the late Samuel Ozell Floyd, Sr. and Frances Cleo Cribb Floyd Hanna, Emily was born on November 28, 1935, in Hemingway, South Carolina. She grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of faith, service, and compassion. A proud graduate of Hemingway High School's Class of 1953, she carried her strong work ethic and sense of responsibility into every aspect of her life.

Emily dedicated over four decades to Wellman Industries in Johnsonville, where she served as an Administrative Assistant to many of the company's chief officers. Her professionalism and loyalty made her a respected figure within the organization and a trusted colleague to many.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Emily was deeply committed to serving others. She was a long-time active member of the Johnsonville Rescue Squad, where she served as both an EMT and Paramedic. Her leadership within the squad reflected her unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Whether responding to emergencies or supporting fellow team members, Emily brought calm strength and heartfelt compassion to every call.

Emily's faith was central to her life. She was an active, long-standing member of the Johnsonville United Methodist Church where she served in various leadership roles over the years. She loved spending time in God's Word and found joy and peace through scripture. Emily lived out her beliefs daily-through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and a steadfast presence for those around her.

One of Emily's greatest joys was cooking. She made hearty dinners but was especially fond of making desserts for her family. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter, warmth, and the aroma of something delicious baking in the oven.

During her quiet time, Emily was an avid reader who found comfort and inspiration in books throughout her life.

Emily is survived by children: Randy (Wanda) Willis, Renee (Rick) Sanders, and Russell (Susan) Willis; grandchildren: Trey Willis, Matthew (Julie) Willis, Kaci (Cody) Ritchart, Kaleigha Willis, Megan (Annsaan) Dobson, Brittany (Forestt) McDaniel, Nicholas Sanders, Nathan (Jaime) Willis, Zachary Willis, Daniel Willis, and Sarah Willis; great-grandchildren: Margo Willis, Micah Willis, Maxtyn Ritchart, Holland Dobson, Addisyn Dobson, Raleigh McDaniel, Charlie McDaniel, and Isaac Willis; brother: Samuel Ozell "Buddy" (Barbara) Floyd; and devoted cousins: Jack Marsh and Family as well as Beverly (Ken) Sandifer.

In addition to her husband and parents, Emily is predeceased by her sisters, Virginia Brown and Renetta Houser; brother, Johnny Floyd; and Mollie, her special companion dog.
