With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Emma Dene Sparks Geouge. 91, of Spruce Pine, NC. Emma was born June 27th,1933, to wonderful parents, Robert and Estelle Sparks of Bakersville NC. She went to be with our Lord on November 12, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Disease. She fought with courage and grace until peacefully passing at Mountain Valley Hospice in Dobson, NC.She is survived by her lifelong sweetheart and loving husband Phil Geouge, 98. They were married for seventy-three years and were true soulmates and partners. After retirement from the Mitchell County school system, you rarely saw one without the other. Phil and Emma accompanied each other over many years of retirement, deeply devoted to each other and also to their family and friends. They enjoyed gardening, church, and volunteering in community and beyond; they never met a stranger.Emma was known for delicious cooking and was a gifted seamstress. She always kept busy and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor. She will be remembered as being very generous and caring towards everyone. You would have had a hard time visiting them without taking home a can of homemade jelly, a bag of frozen home-grown corn, or freshly-made pound cake. She never complained; even up to the end, she put others first. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her.Emma is survived by her sisters Phyllis Sparks McKinney, Patsy Sparks Connelly, and Nina Sparks Long. She was loved and appreciated by all her nieces and nephews: Gregory McKinney, Syna Lewis, Amy Young, Cameron Buchanan, Christopher Connelly, Stacey Hughes, Heath Sparks, Heather Brownfield, and Cindy Sullins. She was predeceased by her sister Betty Sparks Hughes, Louise Sparks Buchanan, and her brother Howard Sparks. We would like to extend our great gratitude to everyone that loved and helped take care of our precious Aunt Emma over the last 10+ years. Too many to name but you know who you are. Thank you for making her life better. A celebration of her life will be arranged later in Spruce Pine N.C. If you would like to honor Emmas legacy, please donate to a charity of your choice as she and Phil gave faithfully to a variety of charities.Words of comfort may be e-mailed to the family by going to our website; www.webbfh.com, selecting Emma Geouges name and then you may sign her guestbook.
