Davis-Rose Mortuary - American FallsEmma Jean Mauch, affectionately known as Jean, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 21, 1934, in American Falls, Idaho, Jean developed a profound appreciation for creativity and art early in her life, a passion that would continue to flourish throughout her years.
Jean was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family and her community. She married her beloved husband, Walter Mauch, and together they raised three children on their family farm, where Jean not only supported Walter in the fields but also prepared meals for the family and their workers.
Her professional journey included working at Tim's Truck and Tractor, where she skillfully managed the bookkeeping for many years. Known fondly by the nickname "BZLady," she embraced the entrepreneurial spirit and engaged in various business ventures throughout her life.
In the later years, Jean's artistic inclinations led her to establish the Spring Hollow Ranch and Gallery in American Falls. She created a vibrant space for the arts, hosting painting classes and inviting acclaimed artists from across the country to inspire the local community.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jean enjoyed an array of hobbies. She cherished square dancing with Walter, often hand-crafting their outfits, and found joy in cooking, bowling, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Her active engagement in socializing with friends and family was an integral part of her life, and she was a valued member of the AF Sharps for many years.
Jean and Walter shared a love of travel that took them to diverse destinations, including Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska. They embraced the snowbird lifestyle, spending time between Arizona and Idaho, and even brought their passion for square dancing to the skies as they participated in events across the United States.
Jean is lovingly survived by her husband of 75 years, Walter Mauch; their son Gary Mauch (Kate); daughter Pamela Mauch; son Harley Mauch (Louise); sister Joyce Crockett; as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Rebecca Alston, along with her brothers Alvin, Edwin, and John Alston, and her sister Alta Mae (Sis) Curtis.
A celebration of Walt & Jean's remarkable lives will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Powerhouse Christian Fellowship, 2905 Sunbeam Rd. American Falls. Military Honors for Walt will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Falls View Cemetery.
She will be dearly missed and remembered for her unwavering spirit and the immense love she shared with all those who were fortunate to know her. Family and friends are invited to visit DavisRoseMortuary.com to share condolences, memories, and photos.
