Emma Frances Martin, 85 of Daingerfield, Texas went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2023 while surrounded by her family. Emma was born in Matador, Texas on December 1, 1937 to Ira Lee and Linnie Mae Slover. In July of 1954, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, M.L. Martin and they spent the next 67 years building a beautiful life together. Emma was the epitome of graciousness and spread kindness and love wherever she went.
Emma was employed at the Sewing Factory in Daingerfield for many years and spent the rest of her time as a beloved homemaker and foundation of her family. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Daingerfield where she played a lead role in decorating for many of the events and contributed to the interior design of the new building. Emma's greatest joy came from surrounding herself with family and friends. Her talents were boundless as seen through her creation of numerous tea sets, dolls and jewelry as well as her knack for cooking, decorating and sewing. We will forever miss her warm embrace, the loving sparkle in her eye, and the occasional shaking of her finger in our direction. There could not have been a better wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother or friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ira Lynn and Linnie Slover; Her brothers Cecil Slover and wife Marie and Keith Slover and wife Katie; as well as her sister Wanda Davis and husband Herb.
Emma leaves behind a great legacy through her loving husband, M.L. Martin of Daingerfield; son Craig Martin of Rocky Branch; Daughter Kim Greenlee of Lone Star; Brother and sister-in-law Jim and JoAnne Slover of Longview, Brother and sister-in-law Gary and Judy Slover of McGregor; Grandchildren Christopher Martin, Neal Martin, Laura Beth Fosset and Kristie Hudspeth; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
A celebration of the life Mrs. Martin will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Daingerfield Church of Christ, 818 West W M Watson Blvd. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 AM prior to the service during a time of visitation and viewing. Mrs. Martin was born on December 1, 1937. She passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2023 at her residence. Services have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. The three main woman in my village were my mom, my aunt, and my grandmother. They are all together again now. Aunt Emma was so strong, steadfast, reliable, caring, and giving. She was the definition of a good woman. It truly was God first, then family, and last self with her. She was such a great role model and set such a good example. She set the bar high. I learned many life lesson through thick and thin from her. Thank you aunt Emma and I love you. Karen
